She rewards the UK fans with a cover of 'Parachute' by Cheryl Cole which is reimagined to sound like a folk/indie ditty and not a highly polished pop song. Nonetheless she is incredibly thankful for the support and interaction, noting that the vocal nature of the crowd tonight is refreshing for her. There is no doubt that the crowds know the albums well and proudly sing back choruses of 'Winter Song' and 'Blood Brothers' with notably less melodic skill that Ingrid herself. There is a wonderfully personable mannerism to her live performance as it appears that fame is a topic of slight confusion to the singer, often sharing with audiences from further afield her surprise at their knowledge of her music. Indie folk singer/songwriter Ingrid Michaelson may have only released her debut in 2005, yet since then she has won huge acclaim from both fans and critics alike. She also told anecdotes and rambled and was extremely easy to relate to, cracking many jokes about her aging and songwriting and such. She said succinctly "If you follow me on social media, you know where I stand, but we all have to stick together and be strong. She also kept political talk to a minimum despite the crowd urging her on when she mentioned the election that had wrapped up days before. There was a nice mix of the classics and the newer hits and you could clearly see which members of the audience responded to her early 2000's tunes vs the more recent ones. She opened with punchy, fun numbers and inserted a mellow, quiet midsection comprised of even solo vocal and ukulele performances and a performance of Hallelujah in honor of the late Leonard Cohen, then ramped back up to a triumphant finish and her more recent big hits. She had all the earmarks of a true professional from showing respect to the Ryman's legendary status to the way she arranged her set. Saw her at the Ryman and the show was excellent. With another album in the pipeline, it shouldn’t be too long before another fantastic album hits the shelves. The song Parachute that she co-wrote with the artist in fact went on to be covered by Cheryl Cole, giving yet more mainstream exposure. Her music has been critically well received, and her collaborations with artists such as Marshall Altman have gained her much attention. Her album Human Again entered the album charts at number 5, securing Ingrid Michaelson to play several prestigious venues, and also a US, and World tour, all of which were sold out almost every night. Since then, she has released 4 albums, bringing her total number of studio LP recordings to 6. Michaelson first emerged into the industry through her Myspace page, when the producer of TV Drama Grey’s Anatomy came across her music, which led to her signing with Original Signal Records. Michaelson refers to her University days in her song The Hat, which can be found on her 2006 album, Girls and Boys. Before her solo career took off, she was a member of a University a cappella group, with which she was heavily involved. Michaelson began her Career at a young age, playing the piano, before beginning her professional training with a degree in theatre at Birmhamton University.
